Vrnik Arts Club

Vrnik is located in the Korcula Islands, in front of Lumbarda, and only 100 meters from the coast of Korcula. It is the only inhabited island in the archipelago, and there is a settlement of the same name. This island also has one of the oldest quarries in Korcula, from ancient Roman times, and today you can find a total of 29 there. The island covers only 0.282 square kilometers and is home to only a few families.

The Vrnik Arts Club was recently opened on the island of Vrnik.. This unique concept is housed in a former island school consisting of an art gallery, a mini museum, a souvenir shop, a restaurant with traditional seafood and two luxury loft apartments.

Badija island

Badija is the largest island in the Korcula Archipelago located in the near vicinity of Korcula Island in Croatia.

The most dominant feature of the island is Franciscan Monastery built in the 14th century.

In the late 14th century, Franciscan monks from Bosnia were given ownership of a part of the Badija island when they began building a monastery.

Most of the monastery was built in the middle of the 15th century in late Gothic style.

The cloister of the monastery is an attractive example od Dalmatian Gothic style.

Although the monks maintained a presence on the island for centuries, the island and its monastery were used as a sports center from the 1950s to 2000s. The monastery and portion of the island were then returned to the Franciscan order.

The island is forested with pine and oak trees and bordered by rocky and pebble beaches and is, therefore, a popular place for a day trip by locals and visitors alike.

Korčula voted world’s 5th best island to visit

Croatia’s Korčula has been the world’s 5th best island to visit in 2021 in a survey by global travel site Big 7 of The 50 Best Islands in the World.

Using aggregated scores from media results, and contributions from the Big 7 Travel editorial team ranked the best islands in the world to visit.

“This diverse list spans from tropical cays in Puerto Rico to the archipelago islands of Iceland. From Mallorca to the Maldives, consider this your essential vacation guide,” Big 7 said.

Lummi Island, Washington was ranked no.1 on the list, followed by Palawan in the Philippines. Vanuatu’s Espiritu Santo was third and Sommarøy in Norway was fourth, just ahead of Korčula.

“Korcula is one of the must-visit destinations on Croatia’s South Dalmatian coast. It’s a little further out to get to than most of the other islands, so you can enjoy less crowds and a more laid-back feel. People call Korcula Town “Little Dubrovnik” because of its medieval squares, churches, palaces and houses, while the beaches and dense forest offer incredible scenery,” Big 7 wrote.
